Child support is the amount of money owed from one parent to another. The gender of the parent does not matter. NO! Connecticut is not a male pays child support state. The ability to pay and the parenting time (access to the children) is what determines who pays and who receives. The amount is determined by looking at the two parents income only. The income is put into a formula which show the court roughly how much would be spent on the child by each parent. The payor and the payee are considered part of the amount paid.
